Mitchell Challice<\/strong> is a Funky Blues Musician based out of Newcastle NSW, known as MDC<\/strong>. We discovered Mitchell the best way possible! By hearing the tracks he uploaded to the Atomic Stream Space<\/strong>. His song “The Music<\/strong>” has been an absolute hit in the Atomic HQ, and has held solid placement in the Atomic Countdown since uploading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hey Mitchell, You’re quite new to the Atomic Platform. Can you give us an introduction to yourself? <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yeah sure how are you my names Mitchell Challice stage name MDC it\u2019s just my initials but I thought it sounded cool. So hey, let\u2019s run with it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So when did you get your start in music? What is your musical background?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have been playing music now for about 16 years, how time flies lol. Love my Music creating and just expressing myself through it in any way possible really. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What artists have been the biggest influence on you becoming a musician?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My biggest influences have been John Butler Trio, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper. Pearl Jam is a favourite as I am now getting older, and pretty much anything I have heard that grabs my attention. If I ever hear something and stop and go oh shit that\u2019s clever and if I could use that somehow in making me grow to become a better artist” and broaden my horizons in sense of speaking <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are your top 3 favourite music experiences? Concerts, Gigs, Recording stories, etc?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Definitely would be watching my dad growing up playing gigs as a kid. And the first concert I went to the grand national tour of John Butler Trio when he played “Grooving Slowly” on ukelele and ripped out a solo I was just like how is this possibly haha. And recording would\u2019ve been with my first band Skilton Avenue great bunch of people we had an opportunity through A and R Australia and we released a single, It was a great experience. Other than that just learning to grow and play new styles and try my hand at as many genres as I can really. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your track \u201cThe Music\u201d has been an absolute hit in the Atomic HQ. Can you give us a little insight into the song and how it came to be<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haha really? Thank you so much! That would be the result of a day off a little rhythm in my head and a bottle or two of red wine and a hell of a lot of fun lol. It instantly just clicked and I had such a great feeling about it. I think all up it took bout 3 hours from start to finish to write and record it all was a blast I find the best songs just seem to fly from out of you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You currently have four songs uploaded to the Stream Space, what is next for MDC?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, the plan is to keep writing music and having fun and enjoying the hell out of it. One day I\u2019d love to go on the road possibly and play live for people and do some shows and release an album out into the world fingers crossed. I d love to get a band at the moment it\u2019s just me my Instruments and my iPad haha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have you discovered any new artists through Atomic that you may never have come across?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miss Mikaila sounds awesome love her voice and unique style it\u2019s very refreshing and Toby Mobbs creating some great tracks rocking the old school sound which I love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
