A\ndrive-through or drive-thru, is a type of take-out service provided by a\nbusiness that allows customers to purchase products without leaving their cars.<\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developed in 1930 originally so that people could deposit\ntheir money at the national bank Drive\nthroughs were created to develop efficiencies and alleviate waiting times\naround businesses.    Now we deposit our money to fast food chains predominately in exchange\nfor convenience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The implementation of it into Fast Food Restaurants was revolutionary in the 70\u2019s. Macca\u2019s bought in to help out the troops in the US who weren\u2019t allowed to enter stores or be seen in their military uniform.\u00a0 It was the next step forwards in the drive-in restaurant economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since then it\u2019s changed into the lazy man\u2019s option.\u00a0 You could pull up to a drive-thru, order food in your PJ\u2019s and the only people that could see or potentially judge you was the person taking your order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s almost an excuse to give up\nsometimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not a perfect science as the staff involved are people and human error or lack of giving a shit means the food that comes isn\u2019t always FAST, or the order isn\u2019t always right. Still though, it seems the thought of actually having to have human interaction or cook for yourself is enough to keep people using it prolifically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With all the travel I do.  I use them a lot.  It\u2019s a good break up on a long drive to get a\ncaffeine hit.  But I am not a fan of the\nnext level that\u2019s been bought in.  The\ntwo-lane variety<\/em><\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Theoretically, it\u2019s all about removing congestion from built-up areas and keeping traffic flow going but, in my experience, it\u2019s been a frenzy of selfish and impatient people cutting lines and pushing in.\u00a0 People can be lined up at the one side with the second lane free then some self-entitled toss will pull in and jump the queue and very quickly go from being 3rd<\/sup> in line to first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s the car version of pushing in\nat a nightclub line up.  Walking straight\nto the front because it\u2019s beneath you to wait longer than the other people\nbehind you or pretending you are talking to someone and act like you\u2019re\noblivious to the people you\u2019ve pushed in front of.  Seemingly this is a symptom of thinking that\nyou\u2019re better than everyone else or a lack of awareness of others, instead of\nthinking that everyone should be treated with the same respect and courtesy no\nmatter their stature.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hate people cutting lines\ndeliberately.  Sometimes it\u2019s accidental\nI can reconcile that but mostly when it happens you see someone blatantly push\nin and then look the other way pretending they had no idea or worse still do it\nwith a smug look of entitlement on their face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lockdown forced us to again evolve and to innovate\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Night clubs line ups aren\u2019t a\nthing now so if you\u2019re craving some disrespectful treatment, get yourself to a two-lane\ndrive thru stat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The person serving will ignore\nyou, you\u2019ll pay exorbitant prices for what you get and often you\u2019ll get the\nwrong order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next revolution came after I\npulled into a two-lane drive thru.  Already\nthere was a good-looking dude beside me in a big swish 4WD was there ready to\norder.  I waited, admittedly I was\nchanging the music in the car and looking at my phone distracted.  I was asked for my order.  Then drove forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I drove on, I looked back and\nthe man that was originally in front me, was now behind me.  I\u2019d cut in. It was an accident but what\nensued was a mental battle with myself about how much of a hypocrite I was and\nhow I could fix it.  This line cutting is\nsomething I complain about often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, I got to the next window and\ndecided to pay for the guy as an act of good will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The look of confusion on the girls\nface at the window and her incomprehension of what I was asking to do was\namusing enough for you to at least give it a crack in this capacity. Apparently,\nit\u2019s unusual for someone to own their mistake and then even less likely try to\nalso try and rectify it. Have you ever seen those movies where aliens discover humans\nfor the first time? That was it, that was the look of fascination she gave me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, I paid, I told her to tell the\nguy I was sorry, and I\u2019d accidentally cut in. \nWhat happened next was unexpected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The guy took it as me trying to\nhit on him and tried to reciprocate. \nThere was eye balling, head nodding and I immediately felt\nuncomfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, is paying\nfor someone\u2019s meal at a drive through now the equivalent of shouting someone a\ndrink at a bar???<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Try it.  You don\u2019t have to wear nice clothes, just\nmaybe wash your face before you attempt it and if your hair is scruffy put on a\nhat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately for this guy, same\nas with a nightclub I judged him.  Not on\nhis behaviour or appearance, but in the same way I\u2019d avoid a rum drinker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This guy ordered a Bacon and Egg\nMcMuffin, Hash browns and an Ice Coffee. I don\u2019t care how nice you are too my\nface. Nothing excuses the lack of disregard for a sausage!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
