Or a\nperception.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some\nresearch suggests a tenth of a second is all it takes to start determining\ntrustworthiness.&nbsp; That\u2019s f..k all to go off.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People\nwill judge me in a manner of varying ways probably also in accordance to their\ninfluences perceptions and also maybe what they are potentially threatened by\nor what is different. I think because of this I\u2019m also often more inclined to\nbe drawn to what\u2019s unique and different. I still judge people right away like\neveryone else. I\u2019m aware of it. It\u2019s maybe differently than the normal\nparameters but I still do it. I do try very hard not to let my initial\njudgement stop me from talking to someone and finding out their story. I\u2019m sure\nit\u2019s partly because I\u2019m also judged heavily and it bugs me that people will put\ninto a box without actually getting to know the multifaceted layers to me. I\u2019m very chatty and playful, this can come\nacross as ditzy, flirtatious, like I don\u2019t have a care in the world. Depending\non what I\u2019m doing I may come across as bossy, airy fairy, obnoxious, confident,\nindependent, and different.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I dress\nvery simple, scruffy, so I blend a bit and not draw attention, that\u2019s a\nstrategy.&nbsp; I\u2019m more comfortable like that and I\u2019m loud enough I don\u2019t need\nor want any extra unwanted attention, be it negative or otherwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\nremember having been talking to a band member several times for interview etc\npromoting his music or MCing some gigs. The nature of these interactions were\noften playful and fun and me \u201cplaying a fool\u201d (that\u2019s important, I play into\nthat).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/mag.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001151_Facebook-819x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18111\" srcset=\"https:\/\/radio.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001151_Facebook-819x1024.jpg 819w, https:\/\/radio.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001151_Facebook-600x750.jpg 600w, https:\/\/radio.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001151_Facebook-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/radio.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001151_Facebook-768x960.jpg 768w, https:\/\/radio.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001151_Facebook.jpg 1078w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One day\nwe were talking and he just looked at me wide eyed and goes\u2026 \u201cYou\u2019re actually\nquite smart aren\u2019t you?\u201d Like he was an alien discovering earthlings for the\nfirst time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It threw\nme, pissed me off a little bit but ultimately, it was good that he could change\nhis mind.&nbsp; Not everyone is capable of or open to that.&nbsp; Some people\nwill make that judgement and stick with it.&nbsp; Sometimes it\u2019s even a\njudgement made or influenced by someone else\u2019s judgement.&nbsp; Don\u2019t do that,\nyou are the best person equipped to seek knowledge for yourself.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img src=\"https:\/\/mag.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/20201016_000252-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18112\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I often\nget told I ask too many questions, but genuinely I\u2019m supremely curious about\nthings and particularly people. People and what makes them tick, fascinates me.\nI seek knowledge to understand not to judge. The more questions I ask the more\nlikely I\u2019m able to develop a rapport with a new complete stranger as I\u2019ve got\nmultiple segues from other conversations I\u2019ve previously had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why do we\njudge? <strong><em>When you judge another, you do not define them, you define\nyourself.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judging\nis simply our attempt to create a hierarchy of better than \/ less than,\nsuperior to \/ inferior to. We can put someone down by judging them negatively\nand in turn it makes us feel better about ourselves.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Making\nchoices based on observing and evaluating other people is such an important\nskill. But when you judge constantly from a negative view you will always be\nconditioning yourself to see the negative. Even in yourself. It\u2019s toxic shit to\nhold on to.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>The\nhappiest people I know are evaluating and improving themselves.&nbsp; The\nunhappy ones are usually evaluating and judging others.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently\nI\u2019ve had my own pre-conceptions blown out of the water and someone was also\nbrave and bold enough to see beyond my exterior and potential for something\ndifferent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\ninterviewed the Lady who puts on The GO Fashion Show, way outside of my normal\nworld and comfort zone, but also that\u2019s why it intrigued me. I wanted to know\nmore about it and promote it to others that may or may not know that we have\nsuch amazing things happening in the Albury Wodonga Region. I\u2019d watched the\nshow the year before and to be honest the whole world seemed intimidating and so\nimpressive. The woman behind it Bernadette Torresson was, in my perspective, in\na very superficial and ego driven world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"685\" src=\"https:\/\/mag.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001128_Facebook-1024x685.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18113\" srcset=\"https:\/\/radio.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001128_Facebook-1024x685.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/radio.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001128_Facebook-600x401.jpg 600w, https:\/\/radio.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001128_Facebook-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/radio.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001128_Facebook-768x514.jpg 768w, https:\/\/radio.atomicmusic.space\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot_20201016-001128_Facebook.jpg 1078w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>What\nhappened from me asking questions was I found out that judgements were wrong,\nyes she loved fashion but the pure emotion in her voice about trying to grow\nand nurture models and create an avenue for community business really struck a\nchord.&nbsp; She looked different to me. Had a different pool of interests. But\nour values were similar.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next\nthing I know I\u2019m sitting there in a flannelette shirt.&nbsp; Talking high end\nfashion runway and she looks to me and goes. You are going to MC this. She saw\nbeyond the exterior and had looked into the depth of the conversation and saw\npotential.&nbsp; At the time I thought she was joking, I didn\u2019t really think it\nwas real. I was probably looking as scruffy as I ever had and even jumped on a\nchair for a photo with her. I\u2019d even talked about my hate for wearing anything\nother than active wear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything\nabout this scenario seemed surreal.&nbsp; Even when I told my mum she said\n\u201cWhat she saw you in person, as you are, in a flanny and asked you to do a\nfashion show? As a real person?\u201d It was so far out of my comfort zone, I knew I\nhad to do it. The idea panicked me, but I also knew from talking to Bernie that\nthe motive behind this show was pure as opposed to the exterior\nperception.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s\nfunny if people keep seeing you in one way you begin to see yourself like that\nas well. You question others backing you. After Bernadette bestowed her project\nonto me I immersed myself in the world and opportunity and had my judgements on\nthe industry blown, It was a supportive collaborative environment and watching\nthe personal growth of some of the young models involved was amazing. Obviously\nthe industry is aesthetically driven, but there are real people involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>You can\u2019t\ntell the quality of the contents of a book just by looking at the material used\nto hold it together.<\/em><\/strong> A book with a plain cover and simple title\nmay be more important, more entertaining, or more useful than book bound in a\nflashier manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Judge a\nbook by its cover and you may as well be judging an author by the only book\nthey ever wrote.&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reading\nit is important because it develops our thoughts, gives us endless knowledge\nand lessons while keeping our minds active.&nbsp; Books can hold all kinds of\ninformation, stories, thoughts and feelings unlike anything else in this\nworld.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Open your\neyes then your minds. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How often do you judge a book by its cover?
