DeeP e.m (pronounced;\nDPM) burst onto the scene in 2020 with the release of his debut single\n\u2018Expand\u2019, as it turns out this single release would be the prequel to an entire\nE.P. set to be released in Autumn 2021. \u2018Expand\u2019 ascended into the top twenty on\nthe weekly charts, and now DeeP e.m is back with a brand new song titled,\n\u2018Break Down Your Wall\u2019. Written 12 months ago, lead singer DeeP e.m, Darren\nMaddock joined Max Bruckmann on Atomic digital radio to talk about the new song.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darren recently made a departure from playing covers for years and has returned to song writing, where he first began in the early 90\u2019s. \u201cI\u2019ve been writing songs for 25 years but in the last 12 months I\u2019ve written about 40 songs. And in the last 25 years I\u2019d written about 20 songs.\u201d The move towards becoming a prolific songwriter has been spurred by what Darren described as a \u2018joy\u2019 in being able to offload ideas and talk to people directly through music. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe main drive there was actually coming across the iHeart songwriting club<\/a>. I jumped in with them, a group of songwriters and pretty much away we went. Writing a song a week in about an hour and getting loads of feedback from awesome songwriters from all around the world actually\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asked about\nthe trying period in which he wrote the bulk of his songs, characterized by the\nbushfires and compounded upon by the pandemic, Darren\u2019s message for audiences\nthrough his music is, \u201ctruth, a deeper emotion and subtle positivity\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m\nlooking to get some special music out there as soon as I can that can maybe\nbrighten some lives in 2020 and into the future\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As well as\nhaving written music about the bushfires \u2018Break Down Your Wall\u2019 is written\nabout \u201cwhat people are striving for in life, what\u2019s their heart into\u201d, which in\nDarren\u2019s own mind 2020 has awoken people, and it\u2019s no longer about winning but\nabout doing the best in life that you can. \u201cIf you need to break those walls\ndown to be happy with second best or doing your best, that\u2019s what I\u2019m trying to\nsay in this song\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not trying\nto play down winning Darren is hopeful for the accolade of a number one track\non the charts. \u201cIt helps lift you and makes your work seem more worthwhile\u201d,\n\u201cIt\u2019s a nice buzz to be a part of, and at some point, I\u2019ll get one [laughs]\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeeP e.m. will be releasing a music video to Break Down Your Wall which will be released on Darren Paul Maddock \u2013 Singer Songwriter<\/a> on Facebook. As well as this, his outfit is going into the studio<\/a> in November to record the remainder of the E.P. \u2018Expand\u2019 for its 2021 release. Expand is the title revolving around \u2018expanding\u2019, mind, happiness and soul.
