<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe ideal outcome of the shade is to be\nboth confrontational and helpful. We strive to engage taboo topics head on. To\ndo this we communicate in the hopes of constructively addressing the issues at\nhand. And ultimately, we\u2019ll arrive at a more positive understanding, or perhaps\ninspire others to land on a viewpoint that would have been foreign to them\nbefore. This ideal is very much in line with the values at the core of Atomic –\nwhich include creating positive social interactions. Although we could always\nbe better at communicating ourselves!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The idea of \u201cThe Shade\u201d, isn\u2019t to have a\nwhinge. Aside from a departure from our very real task of promoting\nindependents, this section is geared towards opening conversations about topics\nthat the music community feels strongly about. The ideal outcome of inspiring\nthese conversations is a healthy debate. In modern society, as many voices have\nobserved, taking offence to topics has become something of a norm\u2026 And this\nphenomenon has stifled many progressive ideas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Being diverse in opinion and composition is\nof paramount importance to the health of a community. It\u2019s what we\u2019ve built our\nsociety around! Freedom of opinions and disagreement. Theories should always stand\non their own merits and logic, and as a community we should not fall victim to\nwhat is often seen in the media, where attempts are made at undermining the character\nor credibility of an author, instead of just dealing with the logic of their ideas.\nNo one own\u2019s their idea\u2019s anyway, they just come to us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, in conclusion, how to shine the light\non something shady? Engage in addressing the issue at hand. Don\u2019t be afraid to\nbutt heads but be constructive, and don\u2019t attempt to discredit anyone\u2019s\nfeelings and ideas by undermining their reputation. And last of all, be wary of\ngoing on the attack! You might inexplicably be giving the spotlight to someone who\nyou were trying to spill tea all over\u2026\u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
