Tell us a bit about\nyour journey as an artist?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have been singing\nand performing for as long as I can remember. I\u2019m pretty sure it was born into\nmy veins. As an artist however, I only go back to about 2016. I played my first\ngig at Retro when it was held in the Library Museum to about 100 people. I remember\nfeeling so spun out to hear my voice that loud! It was at that gig that I\nplayed a nervous rendition of \u2018This Old Town\u2019 for the first time. After that, I\ndidn\u2019t stop. I wrote heaps of songs- mostly bad, until I started to write some\ngood ones. I kept playing gigs, each set progressing to contain more originals\nthan covers. I released a few songs and played more gigs, and then went a\nlittle MIA this year as I wrote and recorded my debut EP \u2018Growing Pains\u2019. I\u2019ve\nmade the move to Melbourne in the last month and will be studying music next\nyear! Onwards and upwards!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you step into\nmusic?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve always been\nreally passionate about music. I grew up surrounded by a lot of music from my\nparent\u2019s heyday, and I got a pretty good education in music history from them.\nI was always singing, and it got to the point where Mum decided I either got\nlessons or stopped singing completely (I must\u2019ve been annoying)! I started\nlessons when I was eight and ended up being classically trained. I sang a lot\nof theatre music and competed in a lot of eisteddfods and did a lot of music\nexams. I started teaching myself to play the guitar when I was eleven, and then\nthe same with piano when I was thirteen. As for songwriting, I remember having\na notebook filled with songs when I was in year two. I\u2019m so glad my life has\nrevolved so heavily around music. It\u2019s the perfect hobby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timeline of my live\nperformances?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

First Retro gig-\nAugust 2016. I played a 20-minute set of a few covers and one original! I was\nsuper nervous but remember really enjoying singing songs I had chosen and not\nsongs from theatre shows- which was what I was doing for a few years prior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Played regular Retro\ngigs 2016 through 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Played a few lovely\nafternoons at events such as Write Around the Murray 2018, Canvas Eatery Sunday\nHappy Hour, and Spring Thursdays at MAMA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also played support\nsets for Snug Pugs, ELK, Catnip Kaiser and Georgie Currie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you shed some\nlight on your discography?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I released my debut\nsingle \u2018This Old Town\u2019 in November 2017, after having the opportunity to record\nat Kool Skools in Melbourne. The song was super well received, and it was\nfollowed with a music video created by the incredibly talented Tom Rattenbury.\nWe filmed the video at the Star Theatre in Chiltern, and in a paddock in the\noutskirts of Albury. I am so proud of that video! I followed \u2018This Old Town\u2019\nwith another single recorded at Kool Skools \u2018Living in A Dream\u2019, a song about\nthe happiness of a hot summer in Albury after falling in love. I stayed pretty\nquiet for a while after that one- focusing on my year 12. Once I finished\nschool, I put my head down and got to work on writing and recording my debut\nEP, released September 2019. I am writing a lot of new music with plans to\nrecord and release some in the near future! Possibility of another video in the\nworks too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tell us about your\nLatest EP \u2018Growing Pains\u2019?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Growing Pains\u2019 feels\nlike a child to me. I spent about 4 months writing and recording, and I really\nenjoyed the process. Recording the project myself gave me control of\neverything, and I spent a lot of time on each song, finding the perfect synth\nsound, the perfect harmony, the perfect guitar line. I wrote new songs and\nuncovered old ones- creating a narrative of my late teens and my transition\ninto adulthood. I wanted to make something super nostalgic and dreamy, so I\nworked on each song super intensely to create the vibe I was after. I am really\nproud of all the songs on the record and I think they all have parts that\nreally strike me. I\u2019m super glad the EP has been so well received, being\nstreamed over 1000 times in less than a week. I am excited to see where it\ngoes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s next for Lauren Eddy?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have all but no\nreal plans for the future! I\u2019ve just made the move to Melbourne and will start a\nMusic Industry course at RMIT next year. I am super keen to start studying and\nstart picking up gigs in the city! For now, it\u2019s just a matter of balancing\nwork and life. Where I will be this time next year is a total mystery to me,\nbut I think that is all part of the fun!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
