Western Australia’s Harro, and Atomic Music chart toppers Trick Shot from Adelaide, alongside fellow #1 alumni, Toowoomba’s Kathleen Turner Overdrive (KTO) are all jumping on a jet plane in October to perform at Punk in the Corn in Davenport Iowa in the US of A!
The festival (the brainchild of Even Without Life band member, and now Punk in the Corn LLC president, Tim Woloszyn) is playing host to over 30 indie bands from around the world over October 10 & 11 at the Mississippi Valley Fairground. Green Jelly is a confirmed headliner to whom Trick Shot will be opening for on the Friday of the festival.
“We can’t wait!” explained Lizzie, KTO’s front-person. “The online indie community will gather in 3D for these two days to support mental health charities and it’s going to rock! Folks who can’t make it for real will be able to join in via the live radio broadcasts and there’s even talk of a live video feed. It’s such an awesome opportunity to meet and play alongside indie bands that we’ve admired, streamed on repeat, and engaged with online over the last few years”.
Ian and Dave from Trick Shot are equally as pumped. “Bucket list gig this one! Who would have thought a year ago we would be opener for a headliner at an International Festival, but here we are”, says Dave, beaming with pride. “I have always dreamed of playing guitar in the USA since I first picked one up, so dream big!”, Ian added.
Lizzie states that, “Tim and his team have shown that the love is in every detail, from affordable tickets starting at just $25 to engaging local small businesses to feed and water the punters. There’s lots of exciting collaborations going on with acts at the festival. Our guitarist Mark is playing bass for UK band The Fraz Band and with our drummer, Ollie, unable to attend we’ll be doing our thing with skin-man Myke Tragic of Chicago punk rock band, The Tragedies”.
Keep your ears out for the Punk in the Corn theme song for the festival penned by Ian from Trick Shot. The track captures the festival’s positive energy in one neat little musical sushi roll and will no doubt feature in the Atomic Weekly Top 20 in due course.
