Will Micro Cut it Playing on a Line Up with ELK?

Written by on 11 November 2020

James (Jimmy) Worth and Daniel (Dan) Caulfield joined Melanie Naismith in the studio to discuss bringing live music back to the regions through the Great Southern Nights sponsored Friday Night Live event on 27th of November.

Mel: So Dan, you’re Micro Cuts and this will be your first gig?

Dan: This will be our first gig, so I’m really excited and nervous and all that. We’re a rock band, straight out 90’s early 2000’s rock band like Jebidiah and Kiss Chasey.

Mel: And Jimmy is part of my long term favourite “mum’s” band ELK!

Jimmy: Essentially yeah, one day someone came up to us, I think it was you Mel and said we should do aerobics tracks for Pilates.

Mel: Yes! I tried to get you a gig at my Yoga Studio. So Micro Cuts have a cool boppy feel and ELK, well, people just want to be around ELK.

Dan: By the way, I know the people out there can’t see us in the studio, but we are physically fighting right now.

Mel: With your eyes and minds.

Dan: Mostly with fists.

Mel: So, Jimmy your band have been isolated lately. Tell us what it’s gonna be like for your band to come back and release yourselves into the region?

Jimmy: It’s gonna be so good! We are so excited just to hang out again and play music. We haven’t even been together yet to start jamming.

Joining Elk and Micro Cuts on the line-up will be Rayan Wilson (acoustic) and Nathan Vaccaro.

Dan: you know what’s cool, we all get to play music again, and we get to network with people who we’ve never networked with before. So we get to do all these really cool new things.

The event on the 27th of November will be Covid-Safe adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Mel: This is super important to get to. It’s the first and last chance to promote live original music in the area, because if people don’t get there, venues are going to stop putting stuff on for us.

Dan: No they won’t. No I’m kidding [giggles]

Mel [stern]: If we can’t fill this space then, there’ll be a lot of trouble.

Dan: Then we’ll have to, we’ll all have to go to bed early.

Jimmy: How many tickets are available, is the big question?

Mel: It’s very exclusive, due to Covid numbers there’ll be less than 100.

Jimmy: Well you better jump on them!

Dan: Yeah get your tickets. What are you doing? What are you doing right now with your life?

Mel: I’ve already been, just sitting here buying them

Dan: How many tickets have you bought so far?

Mel: I’ve bought them all.

Everyone: [laughs]

Mel: Do you think this is gonna be one of those things where there’s like a black market situation? And people just start scalping tickets?

James Worth: Could be

Dan: Yes.

Mel: $12.25 if you can’t get your butts down to one of these gigs, or if not both. The 20th of November is an all girls line up, the 27th of November, a Friday night, is Friday Night Live with all the boys there, great line up of bands. I’ve got Jimmy Worth here, I’ve got Dan Caulfield, they’re gonna be there. I’m gonna be there. And you should be there as well

Dan: Hell Yes!

James: Can’t wait to see you.

Tickets are still available here.
