A word on the protests…

I had plans to write about something different today but with everything going on in the world, it would be stupid to go about our content delivery plans as normal as if nothing is happening…

The atrocity that is the murder of George Floyd as a direct action of police brutality in Minneapolis (USA) has caused a flow on effect around the entire world causing violent riots amongst the peaceful protests to dominate the global media and in effect, cause outrage to anyone who opens up a news page or video service.

First and foremost, let it be known that Atomic as a team stand strongly against racism or bias in any form and also stand behind our Indigenous communities who have suffered for many many years at the hands of racism in both community aspects right up to governance.

What I would like to raise as a concern point here is the mass gathering of people at this stage of a global pandemic and the effect it is going to have on society going forward.

I’ll put it bluntly… There is peaceful protest…. Then there is being a f&%king idiot and ignoring the advice of intelligent people that gave up partying to study science, health and community development for half their lives to protect yours by walking you through the crisis that is CoVID19…

Further to this… There is protest…. Then there is acting like a f&%kwit destroying property, fighting violently with authorities and engaging in behaviour that puts our country to shame…

Going out into public in close proximity to hundreds of thousands of people that all are living in hot-spots of CoVID transmission is only creating a risk factor that is completely un-manageable along side destroying communities by throwing bricks at police cars, burning property and making a f&%king mess of the place DOES NOT help with the movement and message that is being spread about.

It takes up to 14 days to see symptoms people… This means for the next 13.5 days, if you contracted CoVID19, you are spreading it to the community and creating a wave that will cause what is left of this country to fall in a heap and not return…

By all means… Fight for your rights! It is such an important topic and 100%, change is needed in society surrounding racism BUT acting like a f&%kwit because we saw America do it on the tv is not the way to go about it… Use your brains and work out ways to make change without creating a copy-cat problem like the US is dealing with!!!

Now for the media in Australia complaining that they are being assaulted by police in the hot-zones in the US… It is stupidly simple… Don’t f&%king go there if you don’t want to get shot with rubber bullets and sprayed with tear gas… It’s pretty clear that this is the method they have chosen to deal with people being violent all around them and with so many people, it’s hard to tell the difference between you and any other person involved.

There is a lot of heat and energy being thrown around in the streets at the moment, what do you expect is going to happen when you walk into the direct centre of it and wave your pretty little press pass… No-one likes you because you take only the ugly and shocking and spread it around the world inciting fear into community… Wars are started over your bullsh%t. Careers are ruined over your bullsh%t… You are essentially the little dweeb that runs to the teacher when someone calls you a mean name… Grow up!

What has this got to do with music you ask? Well the music industry is completely halted at the moment at the hands of CoVID19… Musicians are not expecting to return to what we had financially until at least 2021 and if a second wave of Coronavirus spreads around the country in a community factor…. What do you think is going to happen to your entertainment career?!?

Use your brains people… Protest peacefully. Protect the people around you. Stand up for your rights and don’t be a f%&king racist!
