The Regional Originals Music Festival was always going to be a big achievement for Albury based event promoters Atomic Music, given that the majority of the festivals in the surrounding area fell to the pandemic. After moving it indoors and spreading it out into 8 “micro events”, the first show took shape last night to a sold-out crowd at the Woolhouse in the heart of their hometown.
Chelsea Knight was chosen to kick off the inaugural festival’s first show with favourites “I want to write a movie” and “Someone’s Seconds” amongst many of her well performing tracks from the Atomic Music Space!
Following Chelsea in front of the open view stage right on the main street of Albury was Asha Bright silencing the room with her powerhouse vocals and smooth guitar work. Amongst the awe emanating from the audience, a moment where Asha started her Radium Award Winning track, “Burnt Toast and Marmalade” where the audience erupted knowing well, they were about to hear their favourite track!
“It’s so good to see these artists traveling through the Atomic network and gaining fans that actively listen to their music! It makes for cool moments like these when they hit the live stage!” said Atomic’s, Joshua Groch.
As the beers flowed and the sun set on the main st of Albury behind the stage, ‘IVA took place opening up her voice to the venue capacity crowd with a huge set of songs including a few cheeky up and coming previews.
Hosted by Atomic Radio’s, Mel Naismith and broadcast live on Atomic Radio nationwide, the sold-out event was a huge success proving Original, up and coming Music still has a strong place in rural/regional areas!
“It’s not just about Horses, Khe Sahn and the Gambler. Artists should be able to show off their original works, front and centre to all gig’s and ALL venues should encourage them to do so!” says Joel Sulman from Atomic.
Regional Originals Music Festival is about highlighting and showcasing Rural and Regional artists from around Australia and there is still more to go!
Regional Originals Music Festival continues 17th of February with tickets limited! Head over to regionaloriginals.com.au to get your tickets now. If the second show is anything like the first, you will be kicking yourself for not getting there!
